Keepers

Nothing here has an admin. Five functions keep the protocol moving and anyone may call them. Two pay the caller from the vault, always capped at a thousandth of it.

The rules

  • score(max) marks up to 64 fills that are at least 32 blocks old against the lagged average at the start of the block, each move clamped to 200 ticks. It pays 0.00002 ETH a fill, at most a thousandth of the vault. Measured: 236,644 gas for 1 fill.
  • evolve() runs once a UTC day. It pays 0.002 ETH, at most a thousandth of the vault. Measured: 1,438,469 gas with 65 living agents; about 7.5 million at 256.
  • flushStakers() moves the 0.75% pot to the stakers, at most once a UTC day, and only while something is staked. It pays nothing.
  • buyback() spends the burn book on QBTR and burns it. Its swap stops 50 ticks past the lower of spot and the lagged average; what it cannot spend stays for the next call. It pays nothing.
  • collect() pays the creator's 0.25% to the owner. It pays the caller nothing.

Why anyone would

Scoring and evolution pay a fixed amount that is meant to cover gas at ordinary prices; they are not a business. Unscored fills block new agent fills once 64 are waiting, so traders and agent owners have their own reasons to score. Flush, buyback and collect pay nothing: stakers, holders and the owner call them.
